CAMWorks Training Class Descriptions
CAMWorks Beginning Post Processing
“This four (4) session, beginner-level class will introduce students to CAMWorks Post Processor fundamentals. Instruction will begin with an overview of CAMWorks Universal Post Generator – “UPG,” for short. We will explore the UPG’s user interface, features, benefits, and limitations. Students will learn how to create new post processors based on provided templates by executing various exercises that demonstrate how templates can be customized to user requirements. Upon completion of the class, students will be prepared to enroll in the “Intermediate Post Processing,” which will expand to cover more complicated post processors using the powerful CAMWorks post processor language.”
CAMWorks Intermediate Post Processing
This class will introduce students to intermediate-level development and editing of CAMWorks post processors via the EC-Editor. Instruction will begin with a brief overview of post-processing fundamentals, followed by exploration of EC-Editor’s user interface, features, benefits, and limitations. Students will learn how to navigate Template and Library files (SRC and LIB, respectively), modify existing post processors based on existing templates, and implement commonly requested post processor features. This intermediate level class assumes that students will have attended the “Introduction to CAMWorks Post Processing” class or have a greater than “basic” understanding of the CAMWorks post processing environment. If you have not been able to attend the live session of the Introduction to CAMWorks Post Processing class, you may also watch and thoroughly review the recorded sessions of the previous class from the Reseller area of the CAMWorks Website. Questions and comments are encouraged to maximize your investment in training. This class will be taught over four (4) sessions, where each session is two (2) hours long.
CAMWorks Advanced Post Processing – I
This class will introduce students to advanced-level editing of CAMWorks post processors via the EC-Editor. Instruction will begin with a brief overview of post-processing fundamentals and EC-Editor’s user interface. We will explore the following topics:
- Arrays
- Query commands
- “GET” commands (GETOOLS, GETMCS)
- File Management (opentxt, settxt, closetxt, killsysfile, etc.)
- Checking motion (syscanned)
Students must have attended the “CAMWorks Intermediate Post Processing” class, and/or, have a thorough understanding of post processing. Questions and comments are encouraged to maximize your investment in training. We’ll have four (4) sessions; each session will be two (2) hours.
CAMWorks Milling Professional
The five (5) session CAMWorks Professional class is intended for those students who have completed the SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard and SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional instruction and are ready to learn about the full suite of CAMWorks 3 Axis Milling, including VoluMill. Students should have a thorough understanding of CAMWorks 2 Axis Mill and basic 3 Axis Mill functionality before attending this class.
CAMWorks Turning Professional
The five (5) session CAMWorks Professional class is intended for those students who have completed the SOLIDWORKS CAM Standard and SOLIDWORKS CAM Professional instruction and are ready to learn about CAMWorks Turn and Mill/Turn functionality. Students should have a thorough understanding of CAMWorks 2 Axis Mill functionality and basic Turning before attending this class.
CAMWorks Premium
The ten (10) session CAMWorks Premium class that focuses on 4 Axis and 5 Axis Simultaneous Milling. Students attending this class are expected to have a thorough understanding of the topics covered in the CAMWorks Professional class.
Online CAMWorks Training Class Schedule
Dates | Class Name | Prerequisites | Time | Register |
Aug 11, 2022 | CAMWorks Post Processing – Attributes | We will explore a fundamental building block of CAMWorks post processing – Attributes.Attributes are very powerful and versatile, but, how can we use them?We will examine commonly used attribute types and functions. We will look at examples of how to format and output commonly used attribute type into NC code. |

Aug 23 – Aug 24, 2022 | WireEDM Pro Premium | This class introduces and teaches students on the functionality included in the Premium level license of WireEDM Pro. Prerequisite to this class is the WireEDM Pro class. | 7:00am – 8:30am AZ Time | Click Here to Register |
Sept 8, 2022 | CAMWorks Post Processing – Debugging | We will explore various methods of debugging post processor output. This topic integral to post-processing work flow and overall post-processor development. This is a large and free-form topic with many possible methods and solutions. We will examine commonly used methods and some of the more creative methods we’ve seen. |

Oct 5 – Oct 6, 2022 | Advanced Virtual Machine | This class will demonstrate the techniques of working with macros, building advanced mill/turn machines, etc. Prerequisite is the completion of the “Introduction to Virtual Machine Class” or similar experience. If you were not able to attend the Introduction to Virtual Machine Class, an online recording is available of the CAMWorks Reseller Training Class page. | 7:00am – 8:30am AZ Time | Click Here to Register |
Oct 13, 2022 | CAMWorks Post Processing – Text-Line Commands | We will explore various methods and controls for text-line commands. There are times when we need to format and output a single value, and it is easier to use text-line commands instead of creating a new attribute. We will examine commonly used scenarios and controls for text-line commands. | 9:00am – 11:0am EDT Time | Click Here to Register |
Nov 1 – Nov 2, 2022 | 5 Axis Milling Workshop | In this workshop we will demonstrate and teach techniques on programming a variety of different part configurations for both 4 axis and 5 axis. These topics are based on submissions to technical support. Prerequisite is the completion of the “CAMWorks Premium Class”. | 7:00am – 8:30am AZ Time | Click Here to Register |
Nov 10, 2022 | CAMWorks Post Processing – Checking Motion | We will explore motion types and how to check motion types at various instances during post processing.Checking motion during post processing is a powerful and versatile tool for decision making during post processing. We will examine different motion types, various ways to check motion types, and scenarios where checking motion is useful. |
